How We Support

Each calendar year, The Virginia Mountain Valley Lawyers’ Association supports charitable causes like free food banks, health care, human rights issues, affordable housing, free civil legal assistance, and more.

Nominate a Charity

When a member or other presenter prepares a CLE court, he or she may nominate a charity for support through registration fees and individual contributions.

Members can also request support for a special project then treated as an ongoing effort.

Donations

The VMVLA underwrites all contributions paying for credit card processing fees and other costs of administration so that 100% of all donations go directly to the charity.

Electronic Privacy Information Center

Electronic Privacy Information Center

EPIC is an independent nonprofit research center in Washington, D.C. EPIC's mission is to focus public attention on emerging privacy and related human rights issues. A Donation of $430 was made on 2/26/2021 raised from the CLE program on Medical Nanotechnology, Privacy and Informed Consent.

Blue Ridge Legal Services

Blue Ridge Legal Services

Blue Ridge Legal Services is the civil legal aid society providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of the Shenandoah Valley and Roanoke Valley of Virginia. A donation of $780 was raised from the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant CLE, An additional donation of $470 was made in the Fall of 2021.

We invite you to nominate a local charity for support by the VMVLA. The organization must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization and primarily focus on providing legal services, supporting access to justice, improving educational programs related to civics and citizenship, or promoting general social welfare.

Nomination Steps:

  • Share your name and email address
  • Name, website, and email of the charity
  • Name of contact at the charity
  • Share the mission of the charity
  • Certify that the charity is a 501(C)3 tax-exempt organization
  • Provide possible CLE tie-ins related to the charity's mission
