VMVLA aims to create positive and sustainable change within the community through charitable donations to groups that support access to justice, diversity, equality and inclusion, legal services to the indigent and under-represented communities, education and the betterment of society for all.

How We Support
Each calendar year, The Virginia Mountain Valley Lawyers’ Association supports charitable causes like free food banks, health care, human rights issues, affordable housing, free civil legal assistance, and more.
Nominate a Charity
When a member or other presenter prepares a CLE court, he or she may nominate a charity for support through registration fees and individual contributions.
Seek Support
Members can also request support for a special project then treated as an ongoing effort.
Donations
The VMVLA underwrites all contributions paying for credit card processing fees and other costs of administration so that 100% of all donations go directly to the charity.
Josephine City Historic District
The VMVLA is collecting donations to support the project and is offering the option of designating it as the 2024 MLK Day CLE charitable option.
Electronic Privacy Information Center
EPIC is an independent nonprofit research center in Washington, D.C. EPIC's mission is to focus public attention on emerging privacy and related human rights issues. A Donation of $430 was made on 2/26/2021 raised from the CLE program on Medical Nanotechnology, Privacy and Informed Consent.
Blue Ridge Legal Services is the civil legal aid society providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of the Shenandoah Valley and Roanoke Valley of Virginia. A donation of $780 was raised from the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant CLE, An additional donation of $470 was made in the Fall of 2021.
Providing free health care since 1974, the Bradley Free Clinic provides free medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy care to the Roanoke Valley’s working uninsured, temporarily unemployed and their families. A $260 donation was made as part of the 2021 MLK Day Seminar..
VA Civics: We the People Competition
The VMVLA supports the We The People Competition in Virginia's schools by donating to VA Civics. A $500 donation representing the proceeds from the 2020 Virtual Fall CLE Conference December Sessions was made to VA Civics in 2020..
The VMVLA supports the Rule of Law Project of the Center for Teaching the Rule of Law. A $1,000 donation representing the proceeds from the 2020 Virtual Fall CLE Conference November Sessions was made to the Center in 2020. An additional donation of $340 was made in the fall of 2021..
Nominate a Local Charity
We invite you to nominate a local charity for support by the VMVLA. The organization must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization and primarily focus on providing legal services, supporting access to justice, improving educational programs related to civics and citizenship, or promoting general social welfare.
