Preview of 2027 CLE Courses
We are in the process of finalizing our CLE calendar for the First Half of the 2027 CLE year. While there will be additions to this list, here is a preview of the confirmed programs:
November 13, 2026 -- Trial Tactics: Surprises and How To Avoid Them. 5PM to 8PM at Hereford College, University of Virginia a 2-hour CLE followed by a reception with VSB President-Elect Bruce H. Russell, II, The Honorable Daniel D. Barnes, Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Rob Hagy and Barry J. Waldman. This program will be simulcast on Zoom
January 18, 2027 – Annual MLK Day Seminar: Yes, Virginia, There is a Statute: The Office of Civil Rights and the Virginia Human Rights Act – Live on Zoom from 10AM to 12 Noon. Who enforces Virginia’s civil rights law, how a claim moves, and where local human rights commissions fit: a Martin Luther King, Jr., Day program presented by John Koehler
January 29, 2027 – Final Fridays – A new CLE each month from the Yes, Virginia, There is a Statute series. The last Friday of every month from 2 to 4 PM join John Koehler Live on Zoom as he explores the familiar, the arcane, and the sometimes mundane laws of the Commonwealth. This month: Title 11: Contracts: What remains, where the rest went, and how it works alongside the UCC.
February 15, 2027 – Annual President’s Day Seminar: I Cannot Tell a Lie: Perjury, False Statements, and the Lawyer's Duty of Candor in Virginia – Live on Zoom form 10AM to 12 Noon.
February 26, 2027 – Title 5.1: Aviation: Pilots, airports, airspace and drones in the Code of Virginia. Our second installment in the Yes, Virginia Final Fridays series looks at a little know title of the Code dealing with the aerial territory of the Commonwealth. 2PM to 4PM on Zoom.
March 26, 2027 – Eminent Domain: Title 25.1, Article I, § 11, and what the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals have done with them. Join us for the third Final Fridays installment from 2PM to 4PM as we look at the law of Eminent Domain in Virginia.
April 30 to May 1, 2027 – Spring Meeting (location and topics to be determined)
May 28, 2027 -- Domestic Animals: Title 3.2, Subtitle V of the Code of Virginia and its neighbors. This edition of Final Fridays looks at the law of Virginia as it relates to Domestic Animals. 2PM to 4PM on Zoom.
June 8, 2027 – World Ocean Day Seminar at the James River Foundation’s James A. Buzzard River Education Center. All Day Seminar. Topics to be announced.
June 19, 2027 – Annual Juneteenth Seminar. Details to be announced.
